Kippan has a rich aroma and sharp taste, an intense citrus flavour which fills the mouth.
Kippan is made from Kaabuchi citrus fruit, also called Kunenbo, which grow in northern Okinawa. These sweet tasting Ryukyu fruits are the main ingredient. The outer skin is lightly peeled and the whole fruit used in a process that takes about 4 days. Once the fruit has been softened by simmering for several hours, each sweet is individually handcrafted.
Cut each Kippan into sections and enjoy with Japanese green tea, or a sweet dessert wine. With absolutely no preservatives or flavourings added, the natural taste is an absolute pleasure.
